CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER | Virtual | Our client, Rafiki Microfinance Bank, is the 3rd largest Microfinance Bank in Kenya and is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank through the Microfinance Act, 2006 (amended, 2013). The Client is actively involved in different sectors such as energy, housing, trade, health, education, and agriculture, among others. JOB PURPOSE The CEO will be expected to provide effective strategic leadership and direction to the management team with a view to accomplish the mandate of the Bank. The role entails leading in all aspects including management of staff, customers, finances, operations and controls, ICT, risks, and ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements as well as being innovative in providing solutions. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Overall Management and Governance Working with the board of directors to develop and execute an effective corporate strategy and achieve required business performance. Managing the day-to-day operations of the institution. Cultivate an ethical and high-performance culture across the bank. Develop high standards of risk management at all levels. Strategic Planning and Business Development Develop annual strategic plans and budgets. Oversee the implementation of annual budgets and strategic plans. Set annual financial and operational performance targets for the Microfinance Banks and its subsidiaries. Set individual employee targets and performance standards. Human Resource and Talent Development Increase management’s effectiveness by ensuring there is an effective and robust human resource strategy that will impact business performance. Establish annual performance goals, allocate resources and assess performance. Motivate all staff and ensure that staff is dedicated to the mission of the organization. Ensure that there is always an effective talent management strategy and succession plan at all levels. Communications and External Stakeholder Relations Build the organization’s reputation as a company committed to excellent corporate citizenship and client services, both internally and externally. Aggressively build companies’ client and partnership base through leading teams. Ensure quality information flow to investors, regulators, and other stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Management, Finance, Marketing, Banking, or a business-related field. At least ten years of direct experience in financial services, at least seven of which should have been in top management positions in a Microfinance Bank or similar environment. Demonstrated experience leading and building cohesive, high performing teams. Ability to delegate effectively amongst teams. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. Membership to relevant professional bodies.
